Pet Passports — summary
Now the only requirement for taking pets between member states of the EU is a passport. This is a document, obtainable from your vet, which identifies your pet by microchip number (not photograph) and confirms that he/she has been properly vaccinated against rabies.
To return with your pet to Great Britain the passport must also include details of a blood test carried out 30 days after the rabies vaccination and 6 months must elapse between the blood sample being taken and your pet being allowed back into Great Britain without having to undergo 6 months in quarantine!
It is important to remember that if you miss the date for the booster vaccination against rabies your pet must undergo the blood test and 6 month delay again.
