Animal foods
We can provide advice on all aspects of small animal care, and can supply most types of food — for normal diets and specialised prescription diets. Due to the ever-expanding variety of foods available, we can’t stock them all, but we can usually obtain non-stock foods within 24 hours.
For dogs and even cats there are a vast number of commercial foods available. To some degree you get what you pay for in the type of ingredients and how they are prepared. The best value are Eukanuba and Hill’s diets where the best ingredients have been cooked together so allowing most pets to digest them easier.
The latest fad is to feed dogs and cats with raw meat on the bone! There are a few benfits, but a whole host of drawbacks.
For most other species please give some thought to what your pet’s normal diet would be in the wild. e.g. rabbits wouldn’t eat chocolate, while most lizards and terrapins would eat things whole to ingest sufficient calcium.
